Why A Bilingual Service ¿Porque Hacemos Un Servicio Bilingüe?

A bilingual service is one where two languages are spoken and sung. Here at Grace Baptist, we have a thriving Spanish Ministry representing 15 Spanish-speaking countries, which meets in the Conference Center on Sundays. So on this “All Family Sunday” (only one service) with that ministry present, we have the opportunity to join our voices with our Spanish-speaking brothers and sisters in praising God.
We do this not only to be inclusive of our Spanish-speaking congregation, to love and serve them, but also to rehearse for Heaven. We're not sure precisely what Heaven will look or sound like, but we do have this picture from the Apostle John in the Book of Revelation:
After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice,“Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!" (Rev. 7:9–10 ESV)
The point of this passage isn't to highlight diversity for diversity's sake but to illustrate that God has united a people who look and sound differently from one another by his Son's work and for his Son's worship. So then, a bilingual church service is a wonderful foretaste of what Heaven will be like and a good reminder that God is engaging and saving people in every nation and tribe through the gospel of Jesus Christ in their language. A bilingual service can help us value the words of the Apostle Paul when he said, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Gal. 3:28) He alone is the object of our focus and the theme of our fellowship.

Un servicio bilingüe es aquel en el que se habla y se canta en dos idiomas. Aquí en Grace Baptist Church tenemos servicios en dos idiomas, dos en Ingles y uno en Español. El Ministerio de Grace Spanish representa a 15 países de habla hispana, y es algo que la Iglesia quiere celebrar juntos. Así que, en este “Servicio en Familia” (todos juntos en UN servicio), tenemos la oportunidad de salir de nuestras zonas de confort para cantar y orar juntos en los dos idiomas.
Hacemos esto para adorar juntos en armonía y también para ensayar cuando estemos en Su presencia. El Apóstol Juan en el libro de Apocalipsis, nos da esta imagen para tratar de entender como estaremos juntos en Su presencia:
“Después de esto miré, y he aquí una gran multitud, la cual nadie podía contar, de todas naciones y tribus y pueblos y lenguas, que estaban delante del trono y en la presencia del Cordero, vestidos de ropas blancas, y con palmas en las manos; y clamaban a gran voz, diciendo: La salvación pertenece a nuestro Dios que está sentado en el trono, y al Cordero.” (Apocalipsis 7:9-10 RVR1960)
El punto de este pasaje no es para resaltar la diversidad sino para ilustrar que Dios a unido un pueblo que se ve y suena diferente el uno del otro por el trabajo de Su Hijo y para la adoración de Su Hijo. Por lo cual, el servicio bilingüe es un anticipo maravilloso de cómo será el Cielo y un buen recordatorio que Dios está involucrando y salvando a las personas en cada nación y predicando el evangelio de Cristo Jesús en su idioma. Solo EL es el objetivo de nuestro enfoque y tema de nuestra comunión. Un servicio bilingüe puede ayudarnos a valorar las palabras del Apóstol Pablo cuando dijo, "Ya no hay judío ni griego; no hay esclavo ni libre; no hay varón ni mujer; porque todos vosotros sois uno en Cristo Jesús." (Gal. 3:28)
